UK Blog Announces The Ex-Girlfriends Club debut album Boo Hoo Hoo

Big thanks to Mad Mackerel in England for posting the first review of debut LP Boo Hoo Hoo.  They had some very kind words to say including, “The Ex-Girlfriends Club specialise in the sleazy blues-punk riffs so beloved of the Stooges, the glam rock attitude that so defined late-era T-Rex, and the garage rock rawness that heralded trailblazers The Seeds.

The result is a incendiary mix of distortion, proto-punk and voodoo blues that manifests itself perfectly in the primal stomp of their cover of the Sonics classic The Witch, being the first single and a taster from the band’s forthcoming debut album Boo Hoo Hoo.”

UPDATE: Mad Mackerel also included first single The Witch in their Best of January mix.

The Ex-Girlfriends Club in J’s Heaven

Big thanks to J’s Heaven for reviewing The Ex-Girlfriends Club live at Dante’s with Sexywaterspiders, Di Di Mau, No Tomorrow Boys and Holy Children.

J writes, “Ex-Girlfriend’s Club up first: the singer was like some frankenstein’s hodge podge of Joey Ramone, Mick Jagger, and Iggy Pop. He’s about 9 feet tall, and he was the best performer i’ve seen in a minute. They tore up a homage to the early to mid 60s, at times extremely reminiscent of the Brian Jonestown Massacre, but laced with amphetamines and booze, to conjure the true theater of the absurd and dangerous. It was like some shamanic invocation, to tear a hole through time, space, and history, to that meta-reality where everything is happening simultaneously, and the spirit of cynicism, ‘been there, done that.’ has no room to breathe and breed. They ended with one of the most excellent stage dives I’ve ever seen, with the singer than running around the infernal theater, knocking over beers and singing into people’s eyes. Tremendous. Highly Recommended! ”
